Hello all! I'm Jinky, a primary maths teacher and Maths Academic Coordinator at Beaconhouse Yamsaard Rangsit, Thailand. One of my joy is to find time to take photos of anything I think interesting. If I am not chasing cats or taking photos, I am busy with putting pieces together and come up with colourful banners, borders for paper, numbers and alphabet. I am offering discounts for my resources from time to time. So, please check out my page. 'Thank you' for stopping by.

Loy Krathong Thailand Festival

(0)
Loy Krathong is one of Thailand’s best loved national festivals. It is the day to pay homage to the goddess of rivers and waterways, Mae Khongkha. It occurs at the November full moon to mark the end of the rainy season and the main rice harvest. The festival has its origins in the Hindu tradition of thanking the water god for the rain. So in the evening, people gather at rivers, lakes and ponds to float krathongs. Krathong bowls are usually made of bread or banana leaves holding lighter candles, are floated on water after dark. On this day, you can set a writing activity about where the pupils are going to celebrate their loy krathong, who with and even set a competition on making their own krathong bowls.
